I am 13 weeks pregnant and on the day my doctor told me I was pregnant I was actually there to see him about a pelvic scan that had been done to see if I had ovarian cycts and uterine fibroids. Well infact I do have 2 cycts on my left ovary, and a fibroid tumor inside my uterus. I am wondering has anyone delt with this, and how was your pregnancy? How was your delivery? What did your doctor do to insure the safety of your baby?
My doctor said he will check development and placement of the baby as well as size of the fibroid around 18 to 20 weeks. And maybe again between then and delivery. He also said that a varity of things can happen, such as the fibroid could shrink, GREAT! OR, the fibroid could continue to grow and actually compete or even starve my baby, the fibroid could stunt the baby’s growth..ect….
i wanted to add that the cycts are only on my left ovary, and that when I ovulate on that side it never releases the egg, it always turn into a cyct. I have been avoiding having it removed, which is what the gyn has wanted to do for almost 5 years. And that the cycts do not affect the pregnancy. ONLY the fibroid does.

I will try to make this a short story for you.
I have been married for 11 years and I am 36, husband is 45. We have been to several doctors, and spent tons of money, on infertility. Been on everything you can imagine. Husband was also tested and he is fine.
This past May I had my annual exam, with a new Dr. and she found that my uterine wall was thick, too thick; she immediately ordered 2 types of laparoscopic surgeries along with a D&C, she thought I may have Cancer of the uterus. Turned out everything was just fine, except for the fibroids I was diagnosed with 4 years ago turned from 2 to 6 fibroids. But she said I could still conceive with no concerns other than my age.
See when I was 16 I gave a baby up for adoption, because it was the smart thing for me to do at that time in my life. My Husband has a 13 year old from a previous relationship. Should we just give up ion the fact that we just can’t have a child of our own? How can I deal with this, when I yearn to conceive? When I think about it, I’m not young anymore and my husband isn’t either.
Any suggestions?

My wife has a 15 cm fibroid. She is 50 years old and just graduated from engineering school. She would like to get a job, but a hysterectomy will put her out of the market for longer than she’d like. Uterine Arterial Embolization is not an option since she is allergic to iodine used in the procedure.
My question, has anyone had MRI-guided ultrasound therapy for this condition? How id it work? Any leads on where it might be performed (other than Mt. Sinai) in the Northeast?
Thanks

I’m 44 and had heavy menstrual bleeding. Ultrasounds and MRI showed three small fibroids, focal complex hyperplasia and polyps. I’ve been trying natural remedies which have improved menses dramatically, no longer heavy, nor as painful. Should I still have hysteroscopy or other procedure done, or does the resolution of symptoms mean I’m OK?

My mother is about to undergo a hysterectomy because of fibroids. What will happen after to her. What should I expect. I mean I will be there for her but are there any psychological effects that might happen, any changes to the body? Please let me know, thanks.
fadded, my mother isnt a b!tch and watch your mouth. If you’re not going to answer the question with a real and sincere answer then beat it.
Thanks for your real kind answers. I appreciate it.
The doctor said she has large fibroids and it has to be done. I am worried. but i know she will be ok once they are removed.

I’m 30 yrs old, and had a exploritory laproscopy 9 days ago because of pelvic pain I’ve been suffering for several months. They did a DNC, and found and removed endometriosis. They also found a fibroid tumor on the outside of the uterus, removed scar tissue from previous surgeries (this was my 4th) and found a possible dermoid cyst in the ovary. 4 days ago, I strained lifting a box, got a terrible pain in my pelvis, and have been bleeding quite heavy and still have bad pelvic pain since. It’s getting worse now, the bleeding and the pain. I cannot sleep (it’s 4 AM). I talked to my doc yesterday, and he said bleeding and pain is normal after the DNC and such. I’ve had a DNC before, but I don’t remember the pain being this bad. I’d say it’s an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10, and the pain meds aren’t helping much (percocet).
My question is, if this is normal, or should get this checked asap. The pain is terrible, and travels down to my knee, hip, back and buttocks. It feels like my ovary is about to explode! I’ve also been getting these stabbing like pains up through my vagina from time to time. It’s a quick sharp pain that only lasts a sec. but it so painful it takes my breath away!
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Any ideas to help ease this? I’m doing all I can, but nothing seems to be working. I take the pain meds as prescribed, and have really been trying to rest and take it easy. Hot baths usually help, but that’s not even working. Not sure how much more I can tollerate.
Thanks for any suggestions…..

I also have Factor V Leiden & Lupus anticoagulant. Due to these, ANY kind of hormone therapy is not allowed. I’m 32 and have no children. I would like to be able to have them if I can (someday). My Dr says to "wait & see". Anemia, pelvic pain, pressure, heavy bleeding & large clots are unbearable & I’m confined to bed for 24-48 hours of my period. I only have symptoms during my period, the rest of the month – I am fine. Pain has persisted for at least 8 months.
cannot take Lupron, it is a hormone. Factor V Leiden patients cannot take hormones due to the increased risk of blood clots.

I have uternine fibroids and I’ve avoided this for over 10 years. I’m scared. I might want surgery to get rid of it,but I’m surgery phobic. Anyone know what is involved? and is it like a C section?
I am done with childbearing and have witnessed the massage, chirporactor, supplement route for attempting to cure other ailments but haven’t tried it on myself. I dunno; its all so confusing when traditional medicine and alternatie medicine disagrees with the other adn frustrating for the patient.

i had my fibroids removed ten years ago . I am now 42 and thinking about trying to conceive once again . My gyn told me i had fibroids but we chose not to remove them as i was trying to conceive last year. I mentined to him before my periods was kinda of heavy and he said it was not that much blood to be concerned? Now for the last six months my period are beyond belief with clots and my physical turned that i have a small case of anemia ! I am always freezing!! i am wondering if the fibroids are causing the anemia. I definately do not want to remove my utereus! I am concerned about the anemia. I have grave’s disease and so far my tests show i am stable. Will the fibroids cause massive bleeding? The first fibroids were removed due to pain. I am not in pain but the bleeding every month has turned heavier to the point i am changing pads every two hours with the Poise pads which I am doubling up on.
i am going to call the gyno in the morning but i rather schedule to see him by the end of the week when i am not so heavy. I am a bit concerned because if any surgery is needed i will then turn 43 and of course when trying to conceive time is ticking. The only reason now we are tryign to conceive again is becuase i lost almost 40 pounds so we were hoping that would help with conception. Please serious answers please. thanks@!
I also noticed i am tired! even when i go to the gym. I take a multi vitamin starting this week and i the thyroid doctor recommended another iron pill which i will pick up tomorrow. So i am wondering if the fibroids and the anemia are tied together so any suggestions is appreciated.

And one of the questions it asks it says…Questions for Female Applicants and Dependents Only: Fibroid or uterine tumor; ovarian cyst; endometriosis; cystocele/rectocele; abnormal pap smear; infertility; sexually transmitted disease; genital warts; herpes; or any other disease or disorder of the genital or reproductive system? And if I was to say yes to this would it deny me the insurance? I did have an abnormal pap smear and now I have to go the the ob/gyn every 3-4 months to make sure I dont get cervical cancer…

Did anyone who had large fibroid tumors in uterus successfully go another route than surgery to deal with the problem of pain, etc. My gyne told me my uterus has doubled in size since Januaary, I have two large fibroids, and there is no other option than partial hysterectomy. I’m in lots of discomfort as my uterus is pushing against my bladder and stomach but I would like to avoid surgery if possible. Thanks.

I went to my gynecologist a few weeks ago, and the pap smear was normal. But he said I have some fibroids and he wants to do an ultrasound. That will be in 2 more weeks. I h/b reading on the internet about fibroids, and they are non-cancerous and normal for women to get them. But I’m concerned about the treatment. One method is a non-operational procedure called uterine fibroid embolization done in the hospital to shrink them. This can also trigger menopause. I’m 51 so this wouldn’t be too much of a concern. Another method of treatment is an experimental drug that can have side effects. It didn’t give the name of the drug, or the possible side effects. So my question is, have any of you ever taken this drug for fibroids and if so, did you experience any side effects? Or did you have the fibroid embolization procedure, and what was your opinion? I’m not really worried about anything, but would just like to know what to expect. Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi
I would like to talk to anyone that has had surgical removal of a uterine fibroid.
Im due to have surgery in about a month, and Im really nervous. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about what the surgery was like, the healing time, the pain level, how you felt afterward. Were you able to move around, excersize, have sex, anything you want to share would be great.
Thanks
Thanks. A couple more details! – I am having it done surgically – much like a C-section my doc said, due to the size of the fibroid. And I rejected the option of having embolization and ablation done, because this is the only option that leaves me with the ability to have children in the future, which my husband and I want.

What is the difference in feel of a cancer lump, and a fibroid?
I have had the same lump in my breast for about a year, and my doctor says it’s fibroid cyst. She did not run a biopsy, but did to a mammogram. The lump has not gotten bigger throughout the year.
I did notice another lump in the same breast about 2 weeks ago.
I’m a bit worried, as my breast has has had a dull pain in it for the past month. I have been drinking a lot of caffeine though.
