I went to my gynecologist a few weeks ago, and the pap smear was normal. But he said I have some fibroids and he wants to do an ultrasound. That will be in 2 more weeks. I h/b reading on the internet about fibroids, and they are non-cancerous and normal for women to get them. But I’m concerned about the treatment. One method is a non-operational procedure called uterine fibroid embolization done in the hospital to shrink them. This can also trigger menopause. I’m 51 so this wouldn’t be too much of a concern. Another method of treatment is an experimental drug that can have side effects. It didn’t give the name of the drug, or the possible side effects. So my question is, have any of you ever taken this drug for fibroids and if so, did you experience any side effects? Or did you have the fibroid embolization procedure, and what was your opinion? I’m not really worried about anything, but would just like to know what to expect. Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi
I would like to talk to anyone that has had surgical removal of a uterine fibroid.
Im due to have surgery in about a month, and Im really nervous. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about what the surgery was like, the healing time, the pain level, how you felt afterward. Were you able to move around, excersize, have sex, anything you want to share would be great.
Thanks
Thanks. A couple more details! – I am having it done surgically – much like a C-section my doc said, due to the size of the fibroid. And I rejected the option of having embolization and ablation done, because this is the only option that leaves me with the ability to have children in the future, which my husband and I want.

What is the difference in feel of a cancer lump, and a fibroid?
I have had the same lump in my breast for about a year, and my doctor says it’s fibroid cyst. She did not run a biopsy, but did to a mammogram. The lump has not gotten bigger throughout the year.
I did notice another lump in the same breast about 2 weeks ago.
I’m a bit worried, as my breast has has had a dull pain in it for the past month. I have been drinking a lot of caffeine though.

I am 35 weeks pregnant and my MD just just told me I have a small uterine fibroid that was seen on my 8 week ultrasound. I was just told now 6 months later that they saw this months ago I’m annoyed. What is this growth? How do they know it is a fibroid and not a cancerous tumor if there was no biopsy? Does anyone know anything about this?

If you have early signs but unconfirmed uterine fibroids on an ultrasound report will a gynecologist typically just do the "wait and see" thing or should other tests be done? if so what tests might she recommend? I had the ultrasound because of chronic abdominal/pelvic pain and abnormal bleeding.
I’ll be seeing my gyno on monday and am trying to be best prepared to make the most of my time. the u/s showed some abnormal areas that suggests fibroids are starting to form.
how do they know if they are benign? do they have to do a biopsy? what I have is not very big at all. I’m only 27, and am done having chilren but no hysterectomy for me!
