I have a 5.5 cm fibroid, I have to take it out if I want to get pregnant in the future. I´m scared. It is also pressing my bladder.
Can someone explain me the surgery (myomectomy), recovery time, time in the hospital, and general advice please.
I´m very scared to wake up without the uterus if something gets wrong!!!!!

My 48 year old mom’s been bleeding for over a year now. Her periods became irregular. Sometimes she can’t even tell if it’s her period or just abnormal bleeding. We thought it was menopause at first, which may have something to do with it. But she got some tests done and was diagnosed with fibroids. But they didn’t need treatment at that time according to the doctor. She’s become anemic since then coz of the bleeding. Sometimes it’s very little and sometimes it’s really heavy with many clots coming out. Now, i’m thinking she should get treatment for this, it’s really disturbing sometimes.
Can fibroids get more serious if not treated?

I’m not sure if I’m getting MS or what. I pee quite often. I never had kids, my blood sugar is in check, and I don’t have uterine fibroids. (I’m female so I don’t have an enlarged prostate) So what is wrong with me? Is this the beginning of MS or something else? Are there any alternative therapies for this? Thanks!

I am 37 and just came home from the seeing the doctor and am now scheduled for a hysterectomy in a week. My fibroid is approx 8 inches long and my uterus is around the size of a 14 week pregancy. I am very nervous as to what to expect when it comes to the pain, how long in the hospital and if I will be able to return to work quickly. I am in the warehouse most of the day lifting and bending in triwalls so and am not sure.

I am 13 weeks and 4 days pregnant and just found out through a ultrasound that I have a fibroid not to mention cyst on my ovaries. I am scared that the fibroid will lead to a miscarrage. The cyst on my ovaries hurt so bad even when i sneeze it sends a sharp pain to my side. has anyone ever had these complications during pregnancy and what are the outcomes of these.

I had a large uterine fibroid removed on April 22. The fibroid was large 10.5 cm, so they did it by an incision cut (from my belly button down to the top of my vagina). The first week and 1/2 were painful, but now I’m up, walking around doing pretty normal activities. Went to my post-op visit, and the pathology was normal/benign (orig. they were worried it was cancer because the tumor grew so big so fast). But I’m ok, and the stitches had dissolved. The Dr. performed and internal exam and said everything looked fine and that for the next two to three months it’s normal to feel a little "off" down there.
Well other than the scar healing and the skin being a bit bruised and tightened I was feeling fine. Now I constantly feel bloated. I feel like my colon is always filled with pressure and gas. I don’t know if this is what she means by "off" and it’s normal after major abdominal surgery or if I should call and make another appt?

I have had this going on now for about 13 years and every year it gets a little worse each month. I know that I have 2 fibroid tumors behind my uterus. they say they are not responsible for my pain but when doctor went to do a biopsy on my uterus it was tilted and it hurt so much I didn’t go back. I have no insurance so any help would be appreciated. Would the tumors growing each year increase my pain?

I know new fibroids can develop after a myomectomy. But so soon? I’m having similar symptoms as I did when I was first diagnosed: bloating that doesn’t seem entirely due to GI problems, a lump in my lower abdomen, sharp abdominal pains and heavy periods. I assume it’s fibroids again. But what else could those symptoms be from?

Hey, I posted this question and didn’t really get any responses, so I’ll ask it again. What are the chances of me conceiving with a small fibroid, a right ovarian cyst and my right tube being blocked. Me and DH have been TTC for awhile with no luck but the doctor said after my HSG (April 17, 2009), my chances of conceiving increases because the dye could have forced out debris if any were in there. She said if I dont conceive in 3 months, then I should come back and she will refer me to an RE. What to you girls think of this? Any answers will be great!!! BABY DUST TO ALL OF US

My left tube is damaged but both tubes leaked the dye. My doctor said the left tube is kind of abnormal and it may have been due to an infection. The left tube was slower to respond but the dye did leak out.
I get my periods every single month now and have been for the past two years or so. I don’t know if I’m ovulating, but I have PCOS so the doctor doubts that I am. I also found out (at the time I had my HSG done in June of 2007) that I have a 4" fibroid on my uterus. I believe that’s also on the left side.
What’s puzzling me is that if I do have two ovaries and two tubes, one of them that works just fine, why am I not getting pregnant (assuming that I may ovulate sometimes)? Could having a damaged tube (regardless of whether or not it’s open) cause infertility?

My doctors says they don’t just begin to break down, but I think that’s what’s going on in my body.

What were your symptoms?
What kind of tests do they do to diagnose them?
What treatment did you have?
If you had surgery, how long did you have to be in hospital? And were you capable of driving yourself home afterwards? What is the recovery like? Pain, etc..
Any other info you can tell me would be much appreciated! I’m asking on behalf of my mother who thinks she may have them and is seeing a doctor soon, and is kind of freaking out about it..

Hi I’ve been diagnosed with Fibroid Tumors. I have a huge mass in my stomach. I have not been experiencing any pain until recently i have been constipated which was the reason for my doctor visit and how i ended up finding out i have the tumors. My question is for anyone that has had fibroid tumors. I’m scheduled for surgery next week but i have paid for a cruise that is going to be on August 10. I doctor told me that the surgery doesn’t have to be now (not urgent) and it’s up to me when i should have the surgery. My main concern is if i wait, go on my cruise, will i still have the constipation. is there anyone that experienced the constipation and was able to treat it?

my wife has had health problems with the general area of her abdomen , and has been seeing a number of doctor to try and find a problem that after countless test , and countless years now have not received any answers. now after around 7 years , they are apparantly going to give her a hysterectomy , even though the symptoms such as bleeding , fibroids and all the other stuff dont exist in this situation, for a match in symptoms , it seems more likely just in plain guessing that the symptoms would suggest endometriosis, from a carers perspective , I dont think the hysterectomy will fix anything , as all things have been exausted to try and find a problem. will doctors remove anything if a patient request removal of something , if the symptoms dont exist for a particular problem?
the symptoms from my mother when she had a hysterectomy was a 2kg growth inside her uterus , my boss’s mrs syptoms was bleeding , lots of internet suggestions for symptoms suggest that for the general area (womb) is that syptoms such as hormonal problems , or consistant problems such as bleeding , would be suggested in tests , the test for the general area do not suggest there are any abnormal cells (bloods) and other suggestive tests for symptoms , have not given any solid answers .
I don’t mind if a hysterectomy is performed , I am just a bit worried that if a hysterectomy is performed and there is no change , it will change a lot of things.
it will be more an elective surgery to have a hysterectomy , as the symptoms do not suggest a legitimate reason to have it removed , under advice from a doctor.

an ultrasound i has found a ovarian cyst and a uterine fibroid. i am having another ultrasound next week to check the cyst again. if it ends up being something serious like cancer is the fibroid a sign that it could have spread to the uterus or are fibroids all together different? i have just been feeling so blah lately and have this bad feeling that something is really wrong, at the same time i think it these feelings might just be nerves and all be put on by anxiety. i initially went to the doctor for back pain and had a ct scan that led to a ultrasound led to this. I never really put all the symptoms together until now so i haven’t discussed them with the doctor. i looked up the symptoms for ovarian cancer and i have all of them. i am newly separated from m y husband and am now scared of what i will do if i do end up having cancer. i feel like if i go to the doctor now and say i have all these symptoms i will sound like i am just making them up from reading on it. what is the best thing to take for indigestion and bloating? i have tried tums and prilosec and midol but nothing is helping anymore.
