Ovarian cysts… again?

I’ve had 2 surgeries in 9 months. 1st was a fibroid tumor on my uterus, 6cm. 2nd was a cyst on my right ovary, 7cm resulting in the removal of the ovary as well. I went to my OB this past friday for all the same symptoms. He suggested a pelvic ultrasound and birth control. I could only get an appt. for the ultrasound in 2 weeks! I hate this, it’s messing with my life. I couldn’t wait, not 2 weeks working with pain, so I went to the ER. Tada. A 4cm cyst on my one good ovary. Can I elect to have surgery to have a histerectomy? And I’ve switched insurance. Will this be considered a pre-existing condition? I do not plan on having children. I have felt this way for years. The 1st surgery, my doctor wanted to give me time to think. It’s been 2 years, and I’d rather have my health than a baby.

It’s not endometriosis, or fibroids, or anything like that. Basically it causes menstrual cramping almost equal to transition stage labour (almost causing to pass out), severe back pain, nausea etc, but doesn’t affect fertility. My sister-in-law was (sort of) diagnosed with it (nothing doctor can do), and cannot remember what it was called. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

I have very large uterine fibroids. I want to begin a program where I will cleanse out my colon, liver and kidneys. I want to start the colon cleanse first but am afraid that I will be stuck on the toilet. I am starting a new job tomorrow and can’t be stuck on the toilet with the runs. Is this the way a colon cleanse works? Please help.

Abnormal menstrual cycle? I NEED HELP!!!?

OK, this may end up being a little long, but I need to know. And before I start, let me just say, I have NOT been to the doctor yet, mainly because I’m too scared to find out what is wrong.

I have been having really weird, abnormal periods for a little over a year now. I track how long my period is every month on a small calendar that I carry in my purse. The troubles really began in July-August of ‘08, I had my period starting July 18th, but it didn’t END until August 28th!!! I went for 6 weeks! And then September came and I started on the 12th, ended on the 19th. One week. October I started on the 26th and ended on November 1st. Then for the rest of November and all of December, I didn’t have a period, at all! Then in January of this year, I started on the 12th, ended on the 22nd. This period was VERY light and instead of being a bright red color, it was brown and pink with very little red mixed in. And then in February, I started on the 9th, it’s now the 6th of March and I’m still going strong. I’m not bleeding heavily, but it IS steady. A couple of times in the last week it seemed like I was going to stop bleeding, but then an hour or two later, I would start bleeding more steadily again.

I’m not on birth control, in fact it’s the opposite, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since October, but haven’t been successful yet. My question is, does this sound like just a regular cyst on one or both of my ovaries, or is something more serious? I’ve researched all over the internet about abnormal periods and haven’t been able to find anything. I don’t have the symptoms for uterine fibroids, I don’t really have any symptoms at all, other than regular "period symptoms" like mild cramping, lower backache and headaches and bloating. Which if I take Pamprin or Midol, those go away for a few hours, so they’re not bothersome at all, other than they’re a constant to go along with all of my bleeding.

If this is just cysts, what will the doctor do? What can I expect as far as an exam and treatment? Should I be as worried and scared of this as I am? Is there a "natural cure" for this, something I can do on my own? Please don’t be rude, I’m seriously worried sick about this and would really like to know what’s going on, but at the same time I don’t. Does that make sense? If it’s nothing serious, then I want to know, but if it’s major, I’m scared to find out!

Uterine fibroid tumor and pregnancy?

A girlfriend of mine is six weeks pregnant, and was told last week that she has a large uterine fibroid tumor (about the size of a grapefruit). She’s decided against terminating the pregnancy, and the tumor is expected to continue growing – gestationally speaking, it will be as though she is carrying twins.

She is under a doctor’s care, but the point in asking this question is to fill in the gaps in my own understanding (she and I haven’t been able to speak at length about this since she found out). Women who have had uterine fibroids, while pregnant or otherwise, please share your experiences…I would like to gain a better understanding for what she will be facing!

Thank you…

I had my first postpartum period at 10 months, so heavy I had to go to the ER on doctor’s orders. Negative pregnancy test, no fibroids/cysts on ultrasound. That period lasted 8 days. On CD14, I started having a pinching feeling in my left ovary (not unbearable, but uncomfortable). It lasted a couple of days and was followed by brown spotting (when wiping only) on CD15.

I’m trying to figure out if it’s probably a cyst that developed since CD6, when I had an ultrasound, or if I am ovulating. I was irregular before my pregnancy, so I’m just trying to figure out what is going on with my body and if I should get another ultrasound or just go back on the pill as long as we didn’t accidentally get pregnant (had an uh-oh around that time).

hysterectomy or endometrial ablation? just say your period comes every 3 weeks and is unbearable! severe pain, exhaustion! thanks.

I am 40. Two older women at work were sharing hysterectomy stories with me. Both had had two children, both had been found to have a "dead" ovary and extensive uterine fibroids, both had been age 48 at the time of surgery. It made me wonder if my decision to remain childless (one terminated pregnancy before the 3rd month) would affect my health in any beneficial way. I have been on birth control pills since age 18.
