Without Drugs, Surgery Or Harmful Side-Effects

I just turned 26 and was diagnosed with uterine fibroids (25cm-very large!) My OB-Gyn has ordered my a Lupron Injection (scheduled for Friday 12/08/06) it is suppose to shrink the fibroids by pushing me into early menopause and save my fertility-I have no children as of yet, but my dream is to have my own family one day. I have read many horrible reports on Lupron and have done a little reading up on alternatives and came across Myomectomy. I read that they can take the fibroids out of uterus no matter the size, #, or location—This seems much better of an option for me. If anyone has had this done, please tell me your experiences. I kind of feel obligated to get the injection because he already ordered it for me and it is very expensive-I do not want him to deny me as a patient if I refuse it and bring up this other option. Someone please give me advice, this is all new to me and I am scared to death and in alot of pain! I do not know what I need to do or what to say to my Dr. – TY

candidate for a hysterectomy? i have severe pain in my pelvic area & my period lasts 10 days with severe bleeding!
i like different opinions! thanks.
from different people! thanks.

I’m having the surgery done June 2 to remove a large fibroid inside my uterus. It was found when I discovered I was pregnant and caused a miscarriage. I have already had an abdominal myomectomy to remove fibroids from the outside of my uterus (2 years ago), but am looking for anyone who has personal experience with the hysteroscopic surgery–info on recovery time, how painful etc. Please only personal actual experiences need reply.

At the end of my rope… what could this be?

For eight months starting two weeks after I lost my virginity, I have been having intense vaginal itching. It was first diagnosed as a yeast infection and it seemed to respond to treatment. My partner was treated too. But then, it seemed like every time we had sex it would recur. We changed condoms, lubes and eventually we abstained from sex altogether. (no sex in five months)
I have been treated for BV, yeast infections but all my swabs despite the fact the itching persists come back clear.
I have been tested for every STD under the sun, and so as he, but they were all okay (the last STD testing batch was done in October, nine months after the one time we had unprotected sex – so I am pretty confident with the results)
I was tested for diabetes.
There has of late been anal itching as well and my doctor treated me for parasites to no avail.
I have had a papsmear that was normal and a transvaginal ultrasound which showed cysts and fibroids but they cannot be correlated to the itch.
There was also thick, white discharge which smelled fishy but my doctor says that that is just coincidental as the swabs came back alright.
Does anyone know what this could be?
I have done all the normal stuff, stop using scented soaps – tampons, wear cotton undies. I don’t know what else to do.

Pelvic exam and bleeding?

Is it normal to have bleeding after bimanual pelvic exam if one has uterine fibroids

HI Everyone, I have diagnosed endometriosis which has bean heat treated (26.03.07). Historically I have suffered very painful and heavy periods that can be in excess of 8 days in length. This can prove to be very debilitating. I also suffer extreme PMS that brings tearfulness, sore breasts, mood changes and extreme fatigue (amongst other symptoms). I also have had small fibroids.

I have been offered a medical menopause with the administration of PROSTAP with add-back therapy with Livial (3 months duration). If this proves successful at reducing my symptoms a complete hysterectomy will be offered. In the main all the patient reviews I have read off the internet tend to illuminate all the negatives with PROSTAP therapy and that it can induce all the symptoms that I am trying to eradicate with the added inconvenience of potential weight gain and hair loss. Anyone have any similar experiences to share and able to offer any advice? Many thanks. Shellie x aged 43

pregnant and fibroids?

I am devasted! I’m trying to get pregnant and I have a large fibroid. I had surgery several years back and got them removed and now there back again. Has anyone out there ever gotten pregnant with fibroids and had a normal pregnancy??

I have a 3.2cm fibroid and am looking at a hysterectomy. my gyno found a polyp on my cervix also which was removed. I have had my periods for 26/27 days and they don’t look like stoping any time soon. I have so much pain. Also I may have endometrisios which is causing pain only way to find out is for doc to go in and look. Now I’m faced with do I have a hysterectomy I am 44 so not wanting more children just want all this to stop. Any one else gone through is and how do you feel about hysterectomy.

social services will not give medical to have the tumor removed, even though the doctor gave a statement that it will continue to grow. checked with disability to see if they can paid for the surgery; still waiting ( 6 months already ).
