My mom has several fibroids measuring the biggest measuring around 5, 4 and 3 cm. She also have one non cancerous cyst on the pelvis. The specialist had spoken to her last month saying that it is not necessary for her to have surgery unless she is having heavy bleeding, discomfort and other symptoms. Yesterday she received a call from the specialist’s office saying that she needs to decide whether or not she wants to get surgery. My mom has an appointment to talk to the specialist, but I want to know if the surgery is mandatory and if she can remain with them.
Thank you for answering.
We have been told that she would need surgery if she is having any problems, but my mom isn’t having any at the moment. No heavy bleeding, no discomfort, and no pain. She’s just nervous about having surgery, and the outcomes.

I’m 37 and haven’t been pregnant before (been trying for 3 years) and my doctor just diagnosed me with 2 things which I don’t know if are causing my infertility:
1. Endometreosis (my sister says she had that too but still got pregnant so I don’t know if that causes infertility).
2. A fibroid (a non cancerous growth) in my uterus.
Or should I ask, is there any chance of still getting pregnant with these conditions? I was declined for healthcare insurance because they found in my record I had taken an infertility medication so I can’t afford the surgeries out of my own pocket to take care of these conditions which are very painful
I’ve applied for adopting in 2003 but I think because I am a single female am having a hard time getting a newborn from the US (can’t afford to make a million overseas visits and hire international attorneys to adopt one overseas which is easier).

Just diagnosed 4 months ago and though it isn’t large, i just generally ignored it and haven’t gone to the doctors.
But i researched on the internet and learnt i don’t have to remove it if i don’t suffer serious symptoms. The only symptom I have is a heavy period, nothing else.
And…why do people keep saying obesity/weight gain is possibly one of the causes of fibroids?
I’m underweight at 5′5 and 49kg, 30 yrs and I still have it.
So, Do I need to remove it?
I really don’t feel any pain whatsoever even during my period or during sex?
I don’t have any intention of having kids because I hope to adopt a child soon, this has nothing to do with the fibroids though
And, is it true it will disappear during/after menopause?
thanks all

I just recently had a myomectomy done about a week ago and I have seen many positive changes that supposedly fibroids do not cause. For some time ago I would feel sluggish & fatigued all the time even after sleeping well. I would not lose weight despite constant dieting and would have to do at least 2-3 hours of rigorous exercise in order to lose weight and even then I would only lose 10-12 lbs per month and it was so hard cause I could not find the time to do that much exercise while working so my weight would ultimately come back as soon as I stopped and much quicker than it took me to lose it. On top of that the Dr said I have PCOS due to my hormonal imbalance and constant weight gain and amenorrhea. After the surgery though I have been losing weight without exercise at the rate of 1lb. per day and I don’t feel sluggish anymore and I have noticed that I have less body hair (hirsutism, never had on face) than before and the big dark spots around my body are clearing up. Now I feel like I want to exercise but can’t due to the surgery and find it amazing to feel this way and to see these changes, it’s like my metabolism is back to how it was as I used to be thin before the fibroids & PCOS. In fact I never actually imagined I would be fat one day since I had been thin since childhood & on until then when my weight problems began and I used to eat junk food much, much more back then. So is it possible that fibroids can cause all these problems for you including PCOS or hormonal imbalance because I asked the doctors countless of times that I did not feel like myself and they would say its because of PCOS and because I was just lazy. They did not understand how tired I would feel all the time and how hard it was for me to lose weight and just assumed I ate too much even to the point of getting angry at me for not following directions wherein I would stop seeing that doctor and find another. Now I just hope to get my period back as it used to be before too. There is also no one in my family with PCOS and insulin resistance so I thought I’d be the first (w/ PCOS, never had IR). I’m losing weight fast without exercise and without changing my diet. So are these changes normal? Anyone else experience this before or something similar? Even my face became longer & thinner after the surgery as it was kind of round before.

I had an ultrasound during early pregnancy, and not only is the pregnancy not viable (no heartbeat), it seems they found a lot of fibroids. I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon with the doctor to go over the results.
My sister died of uterine cancer, so now I am sitting here with TERRIBLE scenarios running through my head. I have read on the internet that fibroids are usually benign.
I am so worried, I have a one year old son!
Has ANYONE ever had fibroids?

Anyone has had experience with MRI guided HIFU- High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment for Uterine fibroids; Is this procedure used for a case diagnosed for recurring adenomyosis.[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adenomyosis]; http://mirena-us.com/ implant has been suggested for hormone regulation for the case, will HIFU be considered an alternative treatment ; What could be the typical cost for such a procedure here in India (Apollo/ in Bangalore) ?

My wife been to 3 ER and 2 ob/gyn in 4 months and no one could help her to stop her bleeding.
Finlay 2 weeks ago a new doctor told us that she have uterine fibroids and she will need a surgery as soon as possible to remove her uterus, But she can’t do it for her now since my wife don’t have any insurance or medicaid.
The doctor gave her some medication to slow the bleeding and to control the pain,Unfortunately the medication didn’t work much and the bleeding never stopped since about 90 days.
2 days ago my wife start bleeding very very bad so i toke her to ER. She got admitted with a blood count of 12 and a blood pressure of 75/37.
Next day her blood count went to 9.8.
Today morning her blood count was 8.7 and they discharged her.
I was so confused why they want to discharge wile she is still having the bleeding and her blood count going lower and lower.
I asked the doctor since you know whats her problem why don’t you just do the surgery for her and remove her uterus? The answer was because she don’t have insurance or medicaid.
So i ended up now by having my wife with me home screaming from pain,Still bleeding slowly, Throwing up every 15 minutes. and i don’t know what to do.
is it like (if you are not rich you die)?????

I have a fibroid tumor that the doc says is about 4 inches, she said it was about the size of a lemon. She also said that it pushes into my uterus.
I was wondering if this would cause serious complications to a fetus when pregnant. She doesn’t think so, but I am curious as to what other women who have experienced this will say?
