I had a complete hysterectomy about 2 weeks ago.The Dr had me start Premarin in the hospital because of hot flashes and a headache that wouldnt go away..he thought maybe the drop in estrogen was causing the headache.Anyway..I took just one Premarin and havent continued them at home.I have hot flashes but nothing I cant handle right now.I know your risks for heart attacks,stroke,and breast cancer are increased by taking HRT but what if anything is your risk of NOT taking any HRT?? I know 2 weeks isnt a lot of time to know how bad my side effects will be but right now I feel like I dont have any side effects,nothing to worry about anyway.
btw…Im 36…I had the hystrectomy because of heavy periods,fibroids,poly cyctic,and endometrosis [sp] that caused andometrosis which caused my uterus to be 3 times the normal size.
I had laproscopic surgery with the uterus removed vaginal. So recovery is going pretty well I think.
Do most women gain weight after a hysterectomy? is that just from the surgery?not having estrogen or being on HRT?? Im also hypothyroid and of course dont want to gain weight =]

can a woman develop fibroids and painful menstruation from lack of sexual intercourse

I am a 25 yr old female with a history of fibroids on my uterus, ovarian cysts and endometriosis. This has always causes me severe cramps, not only during my period but all throughout the month. I do not have health insurance so I usually just deal with the pain, which usually includes hours of cramps that are so bad that I vomit for hours and can’t stand up. I was admitted to the ER yesterday, but even the morphine and lortab don’t work. Help?

i am 43 i have recently had Pelvic ultrasound scan and a vaginal ultrasound scan. i have been to see my doctor today for the results she says that my ovaries are normal and the pelvic scan showed i have an slightly enlarged uterus and its nothing to worry about as there was no obvious cause for my enlarged uterus such as fibroids or anything like that.has anyone else been diagnosed with an enlarged uterus and is my doctor right in saying its nothing to worry about or should i insist on further investigation into whats causing this problem

I don’t have painful periods, unless I’m on the pill. Then they are so severe that I can’t even walk! I have tried so many different versions of hormonal contraceptives that I’ve lost count and they all cause me to have extreme labor-like pains. My doctor cannot figure this out. She says that the pill is used to TREAT dysmenorrhea, and should never CAUSE it. I have been tested for fibroids and endometriosis, and nothing unusual was found. I need to be on the pill to regulate my cycle, but I can’t deal with the pain. Has anybody else experienced this?

I have a very reasonable diet and go to the gym often. However, regardless of my effort I just seem to be gaining weight fast. In the past month alone i have put on about three kilos which is about 6 pounds. I have done some personal research and it appears that fibroids can cause weight gain. Can you help. My weight gain is really begining to upset me. Since 2003 I have been of the pill and now my period pain as well seems to be coming back. Any idea whats happening to me.

My sister had fibroids removed from her uterus on wedensday through a hysteroscopy. she had been doing fine until friday night. she started hemmorhaging, and her heart rate dropped alot.
i havent gotten to go to the hospital, im stuck watching the little kids, and i havent gotten through to my brother inlaw to find out how she is and whats going on.
What do you think will happen to her? and what caused the bleeding and heart rate drop? how long will she be in the hospital

Could there be anyother reason other than my fibroids and heavy menstrual bleeding causing this?

I recently had a laproscopy done and the nurse noticed that my my hemoglobin level was 81 which were from my test reults which were taken two weeks prior to the surgery. They re-tested me that same day and my level was 82. The doctor was not too concerned as I have fibroids and I have very heavy bleeding most of the time during my periods and he said that is most likely why my hemoglobin is so low.

Anyways, went to my family doctor and she was shocked that it was so low, my hemoglobin in October of 2005 was 139 (that was the last time I had a blood test – I know that`s bad, shortly after that I started having really really heavy periods).
She put me on iron supplements and i had another blood test about two weeks later and my hemoglobin is now at 83, my B12 is low, but my iron levels are fine.

Any thoughts, feedback appreciated.

Hi, I’ve been having brown discharge/spotting on and off for over six months. I’ve been to a few OB Drs and all exams came back normal, pap smears, pelvic exam, ultrasound, etc. However, the blood test showed that my progesterone level is extremely low (.08) other than that everything seems fine. However, I’ve been having brown discharge in between periods constantly that each time after I pee, brown liquid would come out. Also, whenever I stand or walk for a long time, I can feel the discharge gushing out. This is very annoying since I’m TTC. I constantly have to run to the bathroom to wipe or check. I already schedule for another ultrasound next week (transvaginal). Meanwhile, I wonder if this had happened to anyone??? Also, do you think this is caused by polyps or fibroids?? Please help!!!!!

A Relative of mine, she suffers from major depression and I have grown knowing she has got the following illnesses:

Barrats Disease
She’s aneamic
weak immune system
prone constantly to fibroids in womb
gallstones – not yet removed
Multiple allergies
migraines caused by trapped nerve

I don’t know if it’s possible for so much to happen in one person, i’m usually very confused sometimes she is fine, like any other person, but other times she’s tired and ill again
