alternative for myomectomy?

my period runs for 28 days and i went for scan i saw i have fibroid. doctors are suggesting surgery but am scared of it coming back after the surgery cos i don’t have kids yet. is there any other alternative or should i go for the surgery

it feels like the size of a jawbreaker, its hard and it is sore. My husband wants me to check it out but I’m not too worried about it. I’m 26 and I’ve had surgery to remove a benign fibroid about 11 years ago. I think it may be the same deal. Should I be worried?

How much is IVF? Or what should I do?

Okay recently I had surgery to remove fibroid. I was told years ago my tubes were blocked with fluids, however once my surgery was over my doctor said my tubes weren’t blocked. Im still not pregnant. Here th time line….. 1st child Born in 2000…HSg performed in 2005(said tubes were blocked) August 2010 found out about fibroid…Put on Depo to control Bleeding….Surgery September 2010…..How long should i tr to conceive before trying IVF?

Share your struggles on TTC?

Been TTC for a year now. I had a 4cm fibroid in my uterus. The doctor said I was healthy and that shouldn’t bother. A few months later the fibroid was 10cm. Had surgery to remove it and they discovered I had stage 4 endometriosis. Just started this month TTC after surgery. Expecting period on Monday. Hopefully is good news. Doctor suggested IVF on January if still not pregnant before the endometriosis turns bad again.

Pal of 50 with this problem has CFS/ME (for more than 10 yrs now) for which she takes two kinds of meds – mild tablet for sleeping, the other an anti-depressant. Two months ago, surgery for fibroid tumors – tumors removed, biopsied, ablation, even – all procedures went well – no cancer – then POW! A month later, bleeding began again in earnest.

What’s causing this endless menstrual bleeding? Is it dangerous (aside from mild anemia, which is easily cured)? Would a hysterectomy definitely fix the problem and if so, what’s the down side aside from surgical risk of infection?

does anyone know what this is?

okay well first off i can’t actually ask my mother herself, because we’re not very close (we don’t usually talk, and when we do it almost always leads to an argument/fight)
but the other day i heard her on the phone with my aunt, she was talking about how she has to keep going to the doctor, something about bleeding a lot in the past two months and then she said something about like a fibroid and laser surgery.. anyone know what this is? is it bad?

What is uterous myoma/fibroid? Is it be cured completely by taking homeopathy medicine? As my sister-in-law doesnot want to go through surgery or uterous removed.

I am 40 years old and have been ttc for 1 1/2 years now. I had a very successful fibroid resection surgery 8 months ago and my OB prescribed Metformin just after my surgery saying that she has seen good results with it for fertility. I do not have PCOS and have very regular cycles. My insulin levels are normal so I don’t really know why I was given it to begin with. After 6 months with no success, I decided to stop taking it. That very month I stopped the meds, I got pregnant. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum 3 days ago at 8 weeks. My OB says I should still be taking the Metformin, she feels I need it. I just find it ironic that the only time I was able to get pregnant, I wasn’t taking anything. Has anyone else taken it without the typical symptoms it is usually prescribed for and had success? Thanks in avance for you feedback!

the reason why is beacuse my mom who is 45 years old which rises a scare but she got a ca 125 test back in april of 2007 and the test said that the level was 18 and then she found out she had a fibroid… a harmless fibriod….. then like in the beginning of january of 2008 she said she just relized that she had pain when she went and take a poop……so today is febuary 21st and about 2 days ago she went in too take another ca 125 test…. then she got a ultrascan which turns out her right ovary is bigger than her left and somthing is on it about 7cm which i measured and is about the size of an egg…. so the ca 125 results came back and turns out she is in the 100’s now can a potiental cyst and a fibriod make that level rise? and i understand usually that when in the 100’s its cancer but i think its a cyst…..she will be having surgery somtime next week but i am very scared and if she has the big C……i dont kno what i would do i am only 15 years old….
