My doctor told me to have laparoscopy sergery for dermid cyst and uterine fibroids.
Now my biggest concern is about COST for that…

When I had a check-up in the different office last time, one of nurses told me I had to pay extra because Blue shield told her that I switched a privious insurance (Blue cross) to B shield this Feb, so its to short to have the treatment. They said I needed to wait for 6 months at least.

But a few weeks later, the office gave me back the money because they covered some of the expense.

If I have to pay more than deductilble like that, I have to give up the surgery.

Is it possible that I have to pay much more than deductible (my plan is 2500) for this? I heard it cost about ,000,000 without insurance. I asked my doctor but not sure.

I’m 25 years old, and I have been having the worst pain on the side of my right breast for about 3 or 4 months now! It feels like someone is stabbing me in my boob. So I went to the doctor about 2 months ago and he gave me cortizone shots. The first treatment worked, but when I went back a couple weeks later, he did it again and it did not work! He told me the problem is is that the cartilidge in my chest is torn away from my ribbs, he said that I would get better. But I haven’t. I feel like I’ve gotten worse. Every time I take off my bra, my boob hurts so bad! Even if I touch it, not press on it, it hurts! So what do you think it could be? This is a constant pain, it’s not a pain that comes and goes. Could it be fibroids, my doc. checked me for that and said it wasn’t, but I’m not so sure about that! I need some advice here! Thank you!
And I do NOT wear an underwire bra, it hurts even when I don’t wear a bra!

I had only had 2 periods since 1/1/08. I went to the Gynocologist a few months back. We did blood work and an ultrasound. The blood work showed I had Hypothyroidism. I went on Synthroid. My labs have come back normal now since I started that treatment. However my ultrasound was abnormal. There was a simple cyst on the right ovary and a mass on the left. The lining of my uterus was so thick they could not measure it and I had fibroids and possible adenomyomas. I had a Diagnostic Laproscopy with a Hystoscopy, D+C and biopsy with washings done last Wed. When I came out of surgery my doctor was very upset. He said my stomach was a mess of adhesions and scar tissue. He said the left ovary has to come out and my uterus is the size of someone 3 months pregnant. He said we would talk more at my follow up. The follow up was today. And he wants me to have a Hysterectomy with a removal of my left ovary. My right ovary will stay so I won’t experience early menopause. He does not know if he can do it laproscopically because my belly is such a mess. I have had 4 previous belly surgeries. My husband and I have 2 sons. We had wanted 2 more but its not in the cards. However I just wondered if anyone else has been through something like this and if so how hard is the recoup from an open hyst. I am an RN and have been for 8 years so I have a pretty good knowledge base. My husband and I know my doc both professionally and privately. I trust him alot. But I am still scared.

Friend of mine, (mid forties), has really bad periods. They can last up to two weeks and she loses heavily. She also becomes very anxious.
She has some fibroids.
She has been offered the choce of the coil or the removal of the uterus. The medics can’t advise her as to which to have and she doesn’t know about any possible disadvantages of the coil.

Has anybody had experience of this treatment? Anything, for or against would be helpful.

it says "Occasionally the dye used during a hysterosalpingogram will push through and open a blocked tube". Does this mean flushing a clean stream of water in side the vagina/uterus can help clearing blocks in fallopian tubes. Sorry if I sound very stupid. Is such a treatment ever exist? I know a girl personally who conceived immediately after this diagnosis.

A hysterosalpingogram is done to:

Find a blocked fallopian tube. The test often is done for a woman who is having a hard time becoming pregnant. An infection may cause severe scarring of the fallopian tubes and block the tubes, preventing pregnancy. Occasionally the dye used during a hysterosalpingogram will push through and open a blocked tube.
Find problems in the uterus, such as an abnormal shape or structure, an injury, polyps, fibroids, adhesions, or a foreign object in the uterus. These types of problems may cause painful menstrual periods or repeated miscarriages.
See whether surgery to reverse a tubal ligation has been successful.

I will be 39 very soon. and currently I am under full investigation of a possible cancer of the uterus as I bleed sometimes, and spotted many times last year inbetween my irregular periods and bleed so much I almost lost my life in 2006 this is how this illness started. I was unawhere at the time, until now. My scans results show a growing uterus no I am not pregnant nor do I have fibroids or endrimetrioses. There is a large mass growing in my guts. and as I type this I am bleeding like a period. But I will be having treatment soon. I want to know if it is normal for this condition to bleed every few months with cancer? Please help. My doctor wanted me to go to the ER tonight but becasue I was so tired I did not go but if this keeps up in the morning I will go for sure. so if you can give me any advice that would be great.

I went to so many doctors after my accident because my neck and back was really in pain. I finally found a doctor who did thank lord give me hope that everything could go back to normal. Until the other day my chiropractors to finish my treatment cause my insurance almost with no balance, he told me that he will MRI my back. When they did they found and confirmed that I had a herniated disc L5-S1 that this accident had make worst because a previous chiropractor told me I had a disc problem before 3 days before the accident etc… But that MRI for my back shows a growing mass inside my pelvic. They send me for a pelvic ultrasound. Also the days of the MRI my tummy to the right side move so much that was crazy and I was extremely dizzy. Result came like that:

Age: 26
Sex: Female

History: Pelvic pain with heavy menses.

Finding: utilizing a full urinary bladder as an acoustic window, the pelvis was evaluated and the uterus is in a normal anteverted/anteflexed orientation measuring 8.4 x 9.8 x 8.0 cm. The uterus contains a very large anterior complex leiomyoma, which measures 10.2 x 8.6 x 9.7 cm. The right and left adnexa are normal. There is no free fluid within the cul-de-sac.

Impression: There is a large soft tissue mass involving the anterior uterus almost certainly representing a large partially pedunculated leiomymoma, which measures 10.2 x 8.6x 9.7 cm. This is an otherwise normal study.

I had so many symptoms related to this now I realized when I make search, I though it was normal to have these symptoms or I was like that but I was in silence sick.

-I always had heavy period since a teen
-around 2 to 3 days
-only when lose weight in 2007 my period is around 5 to 6 days with no pain at all.
-sometimes painful period who changed to be worst now, and right side got worst in last 3 years with clog blood peace going aout.
-constipation on and off but now for my period this month my belly got so big and bloated and I was constipated now I started going again.

I have always had very bad period pains with heavy bleeding for the last 3 months I have been bleeding in between my periods and having terrible cramping pain with it and in the last 5 days I’ve been bleeding and my stomach is completely swollen up to the point that I look pregnant (which there is no way I had two miscarriages 4 years ago and haven’t ovulated since). I went to my Dr and he didn’t tell me what it was and is sending me for an ultrasound of my pelvis. He got quite cagey and just kept on saying we’ll see what the scan says. Has anyone any ideas I so worried I keep thinking its fibroids (which my mother had) and that I’ll end up having a hysterectomy which would be devasting as we are saving for fertility treatment
