Hi
We have been TTC for a year now and went for first appt at the hospital yesterday (I am 33, DH is 37, SA and bloods came back fine).
The doc took notes on our history and then I had an internal scan and had to leave a urine sample.

When they were doing the internal scan, the nurse was pointing something out to the doc and they were talking really quietly. They think that there may be a fibroid and so I have to go back for a pelvic ultrasound in a few weeks (they have also booked me in for a HSG).

I am currently on 8 dpo and was wondering whether anyone else had been in this situation and
(i) is there any chance I am pregnant and that was what they could see?
(ii) could it be nothing? They said the next scan would confirm it so does this mean it could just have been an error?
(iii) has anyone successfully conceived with fibroids or do they need treatment? Is this why its taking so long to conceive?

Many thanks for any replies

xx

I went to the doctor for irregular period and was sent for an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed complex cysts in both ovaries. There are no secondary signs of cancer such as ascites, lymph involvement, metastaes, but my doctor began saying "We assume it is cancer – you need to prepare for surgery and chemo."

Off to the gynacologist she recommended and this guy says – it is a 15% chance it is ovarian cancer, and if it is we will perform a total hysterectomy. If it is NOT cancer…. we will perform a total hysterectomy. Now I found this disconcerting. I asked – why would you take both ovaries? His answer – because they might become cancerous. So why take the uterus? "Because that is what we do – we call it a total clean out."

In the mean time, I consulted with the HERS Foundation and they went over my radiological reports and said that there were no signs that would indicate cancer. In fact, they said that the radiological reports were insufficient and needed to be redone – essential information is missing and some information just makes no sense (suspected findings – do you see them or not? That is the only question you are being asked radiology man!) They suggested I seek out an obgyn who would perform a cystectomy.

So here is my conundrum – two radically divergent opinions. I do not feel comfortable with a plan to remove a healthy organ (my uterus, which I have grown attached to!!) because that is "what they do." In general, I feel as though this guy just wants to perform a hysterectomy regardless and I know it is not necessary if there is no cancer. On the other hand, I don’t want to delay and start the process over for fear that if it is cancer it might progress leading to the loss of my reproductive organs and all other signs of life.

Has anyone sought a more conservative physician for the treatment of cysts or fibroids? Is there any good way to expedite the process on the chance that the clock is ticking? I am in central Ohio if anyone knows of a good surgeon who isn’t slice-happy.

Thanks for your time!
To clarify, I have had two radiologists look at my film, both of whom said that they saw nothing in the CT or sonogram to suggest cancer – none of the expected characteristics are there and some things that are there counter-indicate cancer. I understand that were the biopsy to come back, everything would have to come out, however if it is negative, there is no reason to remove healthy organs because "that’s what we do." The gynecologist I was sent to is a one trick pony who removes all of the reproductive organs for cysts, fibroids etc.

My question is how to expedite finding a gynecological surgeon who will NOT mutilate me if it is not cancer.

Anyone out there living with endometriosis?

I was diganosis with this disease after surgery from removing fibroids and cyst. I feel I’m to young to have a hyster. So I’m going to be recieving treatments for this to have a another child. Im a little nervous about this condition.

The court finally ruled against this guy:

Many women are on birth control to regulate their periods, control heavy bleeding, surpress cysts and fibroids, as treatment for various female cancers, or to treat severe acne.

Many pharmacists are now refusing to fill prescriptions for anti-depressants and other psychoreactive medications (lithium). Some pharmacists claim they don’t "believe" in "interfering" with the brain or they don’t believe in mental illness.

If a DOCTOR prescribes birth control pills, or any other medication, because a patient needs them, then a pharmacist shouldn’t have the right to deny a patient their meds because they feel that taking a certain medication might be "immoral".

I have been trying to get pregnant for 5 years. The doctors told me that i have blocked tubes and want to try other options. I have heard about about herbs that can clear fallopian tubes. Has anyone tried radiant wonders-cinnamon and poria. It’s a herb that is used for the treatment of gynecological disorders such as dysmenorrhea, fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, menstrual irregularity, or chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. If anyone tried it before please tell me how effective it is

After having a scan recently, I was told that I have fibroids which are two inches big. I did some extensive research and came across a website that advises women to use herbal remedies, control their diet and do exercises to reduce them. Has anyone followed that sort of advice and shrunk them? If so, please let me know what natural products you used, which foods to avoid and any exercise that worked for you. I wish to avoid surgery or homone treatments as I hope to have kids sometime in life. Thanks for any input.

A friend of mine is trying to conceive after having treatment for fibroids. Which (specific) natural or homeopathic remedies can she take to boost her chances of conception?

Any (relevant) tips would be appreciated
