Will the pain meds for surgery work?

I take 40 mgs of Vicodin a day. ( prescribed! ) because I broke my back falling out of a tree and I have constant, daily pain. I’m having a hysterectomy in a few days due to fibroids and was told that for pain, they are putting me on a morphine pump. Will the morphine work? I’m worried because of how long I’ve been taking Vicodine that the morphine will not work and I’m going to suffer. I’m so nervous!

Will uterine fibroids affect fertility?

I am 34 years old and recently was found with uterine fibroids during the pre-pregnant examination. I would like to know whether the fibroids will affect fertility or not?

Please help!?

I have been having the following symptoms lately: pain in my lower abdomen and lower back, pain in the area where my ovaries are, I have to go to the bathroom more than usual, and I have suddenly gained enough weight where my clothes don’t fit. I have been off the pill for almost a year but lately my periods have been lighter than usual. Anyone have any idea what it could be? Ovarian cysts? Fibroid tumors? I have an appt. with my doctor, but just thought I would ask here for opinions.

We have been TTC for 1 year. My periods have been normal and regular 10 of my 12 cycles this year, my last two cycles have been a little crazy however, one was 34 days and the next was 40 days! My doctor suggested blood work (which was normal) but he also noticed my uterus was enlarged (I had my period at the time- don’t know if that matters) He ordered an ultrasound on tuesday and said its possible my tubes are blocked or I have a fibroid tumor. I have no symptoms other then my last 2 periods being weird. No pain, my period is normal (maybe even a little shorter then normal?) normal heavyness and no cramps (which is normal) I have been having some back pain while I’m in bed but sometimes I sleep wrong and my back hurts so I think its a coincidence that its happening at the same time as my period. So other then my irregular periods what is my doctor going on? I dont think an enlarged uterus (and he said is was very SLIGHTLY enlarged- like I was maybe a few weeks pregnant but the preg test was neg) is a significant enough sign to point to blocked tubes or fibroid tumors? My mom had fibroid tumors and she said it was extremely painful. So anyway… Any ideas?
my doctor said that he might be able to see if my tubes are blocked on ultrasound if there is backed up fluids in my tubes, he also told me the dye procedure is very painful if I remain awake, unfortunately my insurance will not pay for me to go under for that procedure :-(

She is 24 years old, and she has periods 2-3 that are VERY heavy. She typically needs to change her pad/tampon at least once an hour, sometimes more. Her periods are also fairly long (7-8 days at a time) and she gets bad cramps and terrible PMS: salt cravings, mood swings, weight gain, etc. I looked online and everything I’ve read says that those are all cause for concern for women 30 and older, but I can’t find a straight answer on whether or not it’s a red flag for people in their 20’s. Her period has always been irregular but she says it’s gotten worse the past few years.
My main concern is that she has NEVER had a Pap smear or been to the gynecologist (the new guidelines say you can wait until 21 for your first Pap, I personally think it’s a bad idea but either way she’s past the guideline age). She’s a virgin and she’s very embarrassed about sex and stuff in general, so when I immediately suggested that she go get a Pap and get on the pill she said she didn’t want to because it made her uncomfortable. Her reasoning was that she shouldn’t be on it because she’s not having sex with anyone. I tried to tell her that a lot of abstinent women take it just to regulate their cycle, and that it would help with her cramps and probably make her life a lot easier. But she wouldn’t budge and said she didn’t want to take hormones, so I gave up for the time being because I didn’t want to push her. (She’s never been on medication of any kind; she’s one of those people who hate the idea of taking pills so that’s another obstacle.)
Anyway, I guess the main point of my question is this: all of those symptoms still cause for concern even though she’s only 24? My mom and aunts have had a lot of cyst/fibroid problems, and I want to try and have a serious talk with her about it because it was very physically painful for my family members and I don’t want her to have to go through that. But I also need to think very carefully about how to approach this with her because of her issues that I described above, and if this isn’t as big of a deal as I think it is then I don’t want to stick my nose where it doesn’t belong.
Sorry for the length of this question, but I needed to share the background info because otherwise all the answers would be along the lines of "go on the Pill, duh!" And any advice on how to make the conversation less awkward would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Snapping- If it were me I would have said it was me; the internet is already so anonymous that I don’t feel the need to conceal my identity over something this petty. Thanks for reading the whole thing and then insulting me instead of actually contributing something useful.

Do I need to go to the hospital? Urgent!?

I started my period today. My cramps are very bad… They have always been bad… I have passed out 3 times, Gotten headaches, nausea, fatigue and dizziness. There was something wrong with my mom’s period so she had to have a Hysterectomy. There was also something wrong with her mom’s period as well. My sister thinks there is something wrong with hers to… When I get cramps I get them in my legs to… Sometimes it hurts more on my right side… They get so bad that yes I have passed out. Today I spent the whole day in bed… I’ve begged my mom to take me to the ER several times but she won’t do it. I have to take 3 or more Ibuprofen to get rid of my cramps… I’m 20, have had Thyroid problems, I’ve had an Ultrasound done, I’ve also had a Pelvic Exam done(They didn’t find anything) I’ve also been put on Zovia and Levora birth control and they didn’t help… I’ve tried taking a bath, the fetal position and a heating pad… Nothing works… I usually pass out before I get any relief…I am being put on the DEPO shot soon but idk if it will help… I also have type 1 Diabetes. 2 times when I passed out I was laying down. The last time I passed out was in front of my bedroom door… Everything just went White and I woke up a few hours later wondering what happened…My right side hurts right now… under my belly button also… I think that I might have Uterine Fibroids or Endomitriosis… I have symptoms of both… I have also lost just straight tissue as well. I have also never had sex so I KNOW I’m not pregnant so I can’t be having a miscarriage either… So idk should I go to the hospital? If they get really bad again should I go to the ER and have a full body scan done or something? Should I have a more detailed Ultrasound done? I do also only have pain in my right side and leg and under my belly button right now… I do have Anemia but I don’t take anything for it…So what should I do? Please help… Serious answers please….Anything helps… Thanks…

Bleeding after sex????

I have recently become sexually active after a break, of sorts. I’m having vaginal bleeding after sex. I have fibroid tumors and had a merina IUD inserted 2 months ago. Any ideas on the cause?

For all women who have very heavy periods. I had days where my periods were SO bad. My doctor said I had large fibroids and I told her I did not want a hysterectomy. I was only 53. She said she would try depro provera shots…4 in one year and try to stop my period, and then the fibroids would shrink. That is what she tries first w/her patients. After two shots I gained some weight, but my periods stopped. For five months I did not get my period. I then got one, but it was not bad. Then, I never got one again and my fibroids are now gone. It only took two shots for me. I’m 54 now and it was the best advice. Besides weight gain, I had no side effects. I lost the weight and am happy my periods are gone! Try it first before anything else. My male gyno wanted to do a hysterectomy.
This is not a question. I did not put the question mark at end, they automatically do it, but it’s advice for anyone out there who is going through fibroid problems.
No, blood does not go somewhere else, but it throws us older women into menopause, which is better than hysterectomy.
