I was talking to my doctor, and asked her if it is possible I could have fibroids as I have been having very painful and heavy periods, and my mother and grandmother both suffered and had hysterectomies due to fibroids. Although they were around their 40s when they had surgery. The doctor told me yes but that they cannot even do tests to find out if I have fibroids, let alone treat me for it. I am too young at 18 years old, apparently. So what? I guess I have to wait until I’m older and the fibroids are the size of a football and then I HAVE to resort to hysterectomy, rather than controlling it at an early stage where it’s already a problem. Thanks, doc. Any advice?
I am not saying I want a hysterectomy. I am saying I want to avoid having to have a hysterectomy later in life, as there are drugs that can treat fibroids in their early stages.
And fibroids is not rare at all, about 9 in a 1000 women will be diagnosed with fibroids, and 1000s more won’t even notice they have fibroids because not everyone gets severe symptoms from it. Some people with fibroids will go their whole life without symptoms. I am about 3 times as likely to have fibroids because it runs in my family. I am taking the pill but this does not alleviate the pain, even though it regulates my periods.

Additional help with inferility?
This month will be the 3rd month of me taking Clomid. The 1st cycle, my doctor had me on the 50mg. The second cycle, it was 100mg. This cycle, I’m sure my doctor will order me to take 150mg! I’m trying my best to keep all hope alive, however it’s been very frustrating for my husband and I. At the moment, I would like to know; is there anything additional I could do or take to help boost my chances of ovulating/pregnancy? I have heard of women taking other medications with Clomid to help; also ovulation tests (which I have never used). To help, I’m expecting aunt flo tomorrow (cycle every month between 29-31 days); and she always lasts 6 days. If I decide to use ovulation tests, when should I start testing? Furthermore, I have already underwent certain tests such as ultrasounds, blood work, etc. And, I have been assured everything is great (eggs, etc); minus a small utertine fibroid.Could the fibroid be running my chances? *If this cycle is unsuccessful, I plan to do one more cycle of Clomid; before moving on to other options such as IUI, IVF, etc*. I would love any advice or suggestions to boost my chances… Thanks!

Was put on depo for fibroids and bleeding, followed by hysterectomy, and now on estrogen patch. After starting depo, started getting night chills, about 2 hours after going to sleep. So cold, shivering and teeth chattering, but only a short while. Now on estrogen, but still getting the chills sometimes. Caused by too much progesterone? Too little estrogen? Anybody had anything similar and want to share with me? Thanks.

Today I was diagnosed with three uterine fibroids (3 cm each) and a small ovarian cyst. I don’t want to get surgery as it could be dangerous for other organs. Are there any natural ways of shrinking them?
Thank you.

For anyone with psychic ability or knowledge of paranormal phenomena, do you know of the effects of any of the above on women’s psychic abilities?
I could not find any info online, but I I also do not know if I used the right terminology to find what I was looking for.
If you can help provide good information, I would really appreciate it.
‘More specifically, is there less of a detrimental effect on psychic abilities to have cysts or fibroids removed than there would be to have partial or complete hysterectomy?

I am generally healthy woman in late 20’s. This year (2009) I had a laser laproscopy and D&C in February for some Fibroid tumors in my cervix and cysts on both of my ovaries, a colonoscopy in March due to a bad intestinal infection called C-Diff due to the anitbiotics I was on for a sinus infection, a septorihnoplasty in April to help cure me from my severe sinus problems (as well as a little extra work to straighten my nose), and now I am about to go back under this month (may) because I am still having problems with my cervix and uterus (continual bleeding still) my doc is going to basically burn it all out. Is being under anethesia for these operations so close together dangerous to me? Can I have long term damage for any of this? I am normally a healthy person but so far this year I have just gotten hit with all these issues. Hopefully they should be all resolved soon. I hope someone can help me with my question. I have tried to research online myself but I can not seem to find anything. Thanks.

I am not concerned about being pregnant or anything, I am just concerned about my feminine health because recently my periods have been irregular and I have a family history of ovarian cancer and fibroid tumors in the uterus.I am only 17 and I feel awkward talking to my parents about stuff like this. I would like to know if I need a parent to got with me to the gynecologist if I am 17 in New Jersey. I have my insurance cards and I have Horizon BCBS of NJ if it makes a difference.
Thank you
