What is the difference in feel of a cancer lump, and a fibroid?
I have had the same lump in my breast for about a year, and my doctor says it’s fibroid cyst. She did not run a biopsy, but did to a mammogram. The lump has not gotten bigger throughout the year.
I did notice another lump in the same breast about 2 weeks ago.
I’m a bit worried, as my breast has has had a dull pain in it for the past month. I have been drinking a lot of caffeine though.

A cyst has a round shape, whereas cancer will have an irregular shape. Also, a cyst will have what is called an "encapsulated" feel when you touch it…you can sort of move it around under your skin. Not so with cancer.
Because some lumps are caused by normal hormone changes, your health care provider may suggest watching the lump for a month or two to see if it changes or goes away. The size, shape, and edges of a lump sometimes can give doctors more information about whether or not it is cancer. On a mammogram, a growth that is benign often looks smooth and round with a clear, defined edge. On the other hand, breast cancer often has a jagged outline and an irregular shape. The first symptom of breast cancer for many women is a lump in their breast. But 9 out of 10 breast lumps (90%) are benign. That means they are not cancers
you may have fibroid cystic breast disease. 9 out of 10 breast lumps are usually cysts. when u do breast check if the lump moves it’s a cyst ,usually a cancer lump is as hard as a rock and does not Move when you lightly press on it. I have had it since I was 19 yrs old and somettimes they may swell around my cycle time. My gyn told me to lay off of lots of caffeine dairy and soy products as they may increase the amount, but if you are in doubt ask your doc if you should have an ultrasound just to be sure. I’m sure your doc is 100% correct if he /she thought it was cancer they would certainly not wait a year. And lots of women have it they just are too embarressed to say it. Stay calm & good luck
