Do fibroids cause problems after childbirth?

I would like to hear from women who had one and birthed normally. It is not in the way. I am worried about bleeding afterwards. Do they shrink when the baby is born? It is not near the placenta.

This Question is right up my alley.. Hope this helps.. When I was pregnant with my last child, the doctor detected a pea sized fibroid on the outside of my uterus. By the time I was full term the darn hormone fed thing had grown to the size of a softball… don’t laugh but I thought it was the babys head… anyway the Dr. was a little concerned about it getting in the way of delivery, but just a little… turns out it did not get in the way and there was no bleeding… It actually shrunk and totally disappeared soon after delivery.. I have had no trouble since.. Unless your doc is concerned then I wouldn’t be to worried.. Good luck to you and your soon to be little one..by the way my delivery was normal, and natural at a birthing center and my daughter weighed 8lbs 1/2 oz..
OK, you are asking a few different questions. First off, are you pregnant now, and what size is the fibroid? Second, you will bleed after wards, but that is to be expected. The fibroid it’s self is not going to bleed, it gets it’s blood supply from the uterus. But, like I said, it depends on how big it is. The more your uterus stretches, the more likely the fibroid will rip away from the uterine wall, causing blood loss. Fibroid do not shrink. They have to be removed. In the cases that I have seen, the fibroids were so bad, that after birth, a hysterectomy is done. You don’t want that if you are young. You say it’s not near the placenta now, but sweetie, you have to remember that the fetus will grow and stretch your uterus to over 10X it’s original size. Your uterus is only the size of your fist (just a little smaller). If you are pregnant, go see a doctor. If you aren’t, but planning on it, go see a doctor. Fibroid removal is a very simple common procedure. I hope I was able to help a little.
