How are fibroids diagnosed?

I am 19 wks 6 days along and I’m going to be going in for my 2nd ultrasound today (It’s the BIG one, yay!) Anyways, I’ve heard of women on here talking about fibroids and I was just wondering, is this something OBGYN’s routinely check for? Or is it something that presents extreme symptoms I would notice? Should I ask my doctor today to check for them…I’m a worry wart : P

They’re pretty painful and most of the time cause a noticeable size difference in pregnant women. They’re most common in women in their mid 30’s and beyond. If you don’t have any symptoms and aren’t in the "at risk" group, most likely you’ve got nothing to worry about. In other words–you’d probably know if you had them. Good luck!
I had fibroids during my pregnancy. Actually I knew that I had them before I even got pregnant. They were diagnosed by ultra sonogram.
