Sorry. No encouragement here. If you get a hysterectomy, you will PERMANANTLY cause a catastrophic downturn in your hormones that you cannot reverse. So your doctor says that you can use "bio-identical hormone replacement therapy?" That is a HUGE cancer-causing scam scam scam.
INSTEAD, get a MYOMECTOMY. Keep your organs, keep your hormones, and just get rid of the fibroids.
Remember: your doctor is a commissioned salesperson, and will talk you into the operation that will benefit him/her the most; NOT YOU.
Good luck.

Yes I had one 9 weeks ago to remove a large fibroid. The fibroid caused alot of problems, heavy bleeding with my periods and made my blood pressure go up a bit. I also got anemia from the fibroid because of the blood lost. The first 2 weeks are going to be hard on you. As the weeks go by you will start to feel better. I felt better by the 4th week. You should take off from work at least 6 weeks. Have someone stay with you when you go home for the first week or two.
You should talk to your doctor with a list of questions before the surgery. The nurses are very help full when you stay in the hospital, don't be afraid to ask for help or pain medications. You are going to feel pain mostly the first few days, then you will sleep better when you go home. I'm glad I had it done, I feel much healthier now. Best of luck to you and always think positive this help me out.

For starter you should feel better once the surgery is over and if you have a vaginal hysterectomy the healing time is much shorter than the other but either way once it's done you will be feeling so much better since you won't be bleeding all the time and you can do so much more and your sex life will even be better so good luck
