I have a uterine fibroid. I haven’t decided what to do about it. Advice?

It’s grown and getting noticeable and annoying. I’m apprehensive about surgery, have heard good and bad things about embolization, have been just living with it for some years now. Any women willing to share their experiences with hysterectomy/myomectomy/embolization?

When I was 24 I found that I had lot of tumors inside my uterus as big as the size of 16 weeks pregnancy. They didn’t cause any pain but they were causing a lot of bleeding during my period.
Doctors though of embolization but there were so many that only option for me was to take mayomactomy. before the operation, my doctor advised me to take 4 doses of luprone to reduce the size of the fibroids.
I took mayomactomy and there were 28 fibroids that doctors could remove! There were lot more tiny ones inside the uterus doctors could not remove. They grew again just in 6 months.
If you have 1 fiboid, then its easy to treat my laparoscopy of embolization. But if you have multiple, there is no option other then mayomactomy.
I have fibroids also, so I can understand. You may want to try NATURAL progesterone and changing your diet to see if it has any effect.
research a prduct called Neprinol. I take it for a simaler condition. They have used it with great success on uterin fibroids. Here is the site for the company that makes it. If you like you can order it on amazon.com

I had fibroid tumors im my uterus for years, and finally at my annual exam 10 years ago, my doctor asked what i wanted to do. I also was having problems with my bladder.
My option was to have a hysterectomy nad bladder lift, and I have never felt better. The only regret is that I hadnt had it done before and suffered with all the pain. I came back to work after 3 weeks and have felt great ever since having it done. I would highly reccommend having this done. You WILL NOT regret it.
Since uterine fibroids might carrying a pregnancy to term difficult, I would advise that you try to resolve this condition with either medication or surgery (myomectomy?). Find out how you can get the best results with the least drastic approach.
My friend had good results with medication alone.
I would steer away from a hysterectom unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. That is major surgery and can have some serious and unwanted side effects, and if you ever do want a baby……
I have a hx of fibroids and polyps and have had them removed via hysteroscopy/D&C, they were very problematic for me. It’s not invasive surgery, definitely not like a hysterectomy is. It’s an outpx procedure, you go home the same day, there is some cramping and bleeding afterwards, but nothing major.
I currently have another fibroid, will have an ultrasound on the 2nd of May to check on it, as it’s been giving me problems, I have some major cramping at times b/c of it. I’ll probably have the surgery again to remove it if needed.
If you don’t have children and plan to become pg in the future, your best bet is to have the fibroid removed, only b/c it can cause problems in pgcy.

What are your symptoms? Do you plan to have kids? How big are they? How many and where are they located?
These are all questions to know before making a decision. Most women I know opt for the myomectomy and have had no issues with it. But a lot of this depends on the answers to the questions above. If you don’t want to have any more children, then hysterectomy might make the most sense because is the only way to ensure they won’t grow back. If you do want kids though, most doctors will tell you the most conservative thing to do is a myomectomy (not enough data on embolization yet).
If you are apprehensive about surgery, "keep looking." Get a second opinion even if you like your doctor. A second opinion might help you to feel better about it. Keep asking your doctor questions until you have exhausted them. Also, make sure your doctor has a lot of experience in treating fibroids.
