I had those too.I have read that they are caused from hormones or estrogen to be more exact. So it's probably nothing you could have caused or prevented.Anyway I had a partial hysterectomy and am fine now. The doctors say that sometimes they'll go away when you stop producing so much estrogen but I was in pain for a long time so I chose not to wait it out.I think it depends on how you feel and your Doctors suggestions.Good luck

I can tell you this...If you aren't already in perimenopause try NOT to let the doctor perform surgery on it. Here's why. Unless the fibroid is causing a serious problem , once you begin to to have less estrogen in your body the fibroids will shrink and disappear! They feed or become larger because of estrogen. I used to have a TON of them , I saw them in on a special ultrasound xray. I was told by a gyn to try and stick it out a few more years because menopause was right around the corner and they almost always shrink on their own then.Mine are all gone! You may want to ask your doctor about natural progesterone cream. This formulation will help shrink them also but it must be the natural form as opposed to the chemical one.
